Hey Everyone!
It's been awhile since my last update on here. Due to some personal occurances (Namely ones beginning with "Birth" and ending with "Day") my presence online has been a bit scarce.
But Now I'm back and have some news to share.
First and foremost, the first draft of FAEDLANDS is now complete!!!
Now I'm at a point in which I need to do re-writes, edit, format, and all that other fun stuff that has to do with "completing" a novel. Many times I have found myself wondering why it couldn't just be as simple as getting it done... But nonetheless, I'm back to work and have quite a bit to show for it.
Now for the real reason I'm writing this. (Other then to get back into the swing of things.)
As I have stated in earlier blogs, the more that I have written about this world the more it expands and grows in my mind. I have compiled many documents and notes scribbled all over the place as to the history of this world, the races that inhabit it and much more.
With all of this information the urge to find ways to shove alot of it in their really was hard to keep away from. I want all of the readers to know just how deep this history goes, I want you to know these characters and where they come from, I want you to know this world like I do.
However, and this is a given to most. Shoving that much lore into the plot of a book would REALLY take away from the focus of the plot. It would simply be an information overload without cause. And while each piece of lore is important in the overall, it's not really relevant to the story at hand. We're not delving into the creation of the world, in many ways we're not even at the point of exploring what had happened to bring the world into it's current state. I want to tell a story, many things will come in time in future books, and much of it will find it's time to shine.
So, What I want to do is get everything together, and write out a companion guide to the series.
Initially I had intended to wait until a few of the books were out to do this but with as much lore as I have I think I am at a point where I can put together a great introduction piece to the world without damaging future plot points.
My hopes in doing this (And releasing it free of charge) are that the readers will get a better understanding of this world and some of the places, races, and history not focused on within the first book. That way I can get feedback on specific events/people/storylines that people find interesting and use that to direct where the story should go from there.
I have no particular timeline at this point for the companions release but it should become available before the release of Vex's story.
What do you guys think of this idea?
