While this blog's name may seem a bit on the strange side, Read on and it will make a bit more sense.
As a writer, I take comfort in the fact that I am not bound in my creative liberties and can write pretty much whatever my imagination can lead me to. (Within reason of course)
This post originated for me in the Twitterverse. (Not a word? Well, it should be.)
Anyhow, I came across a tweet by KDSarge https://twitter.com/#!/KDSarge
In it describes a situation involving Smashwords, A self publishing and distribution site that many indie authors use and a disagreement with PayPal, Which Smashwords has been built up around.

Now for my opinion on the topic.
First and foremost I feel the need to say that I do not condone Rape, Bestiality, or Incest even in the literary world. Also, Although this post is mostly directed towards writers of Erotica (Erotic Fiction) Which I am not a writer of, This post still concerns me because in my opinion it is in ways a direct violation of Freedom of Speech.
In the Aftermath of SOPA (Anyone remember that?) The US and much of the world turned it's eyes and political ears to the freedom of speech act.
I believe in some ways this goes back to when people argued that violence in Games/Movies/Music caused people to commit crimes out in the real world and while I can understand the feelings coming from families that lost a loved one to an act of violence that was claimed to come from watching/listening/playing the aforementioned, It is always on the individual to accept the consequences for their actions and while certain behaviors can be blamed for such media it is ultimately up to the individual to compose themselves in a manner that is fit for society.
I believe that reading is now being included in this category and that does not bode well for me.
"What if Visa sees PayPal getting away with it? Do you trust your bank to decide what you should be allowed to read?"
I think that this statement in itself is a wonderful example of what could possibly happen if everyone felt this way.
Just because this is not a matter of national interest doesn't mean that it should be ignored.
